Enter His Gates Board of Directors

I was raised right here in Enid, Oklahoma with a background in construction and farming, and operated my own construction business starting in 1971 after graduating from OSU. My wife, Christine (a retired 1st grade teacher), and I have two children, Amy and Dane, and we've been blessed with three grandchildren: Maddy, Abi, and Izzy. I love the outdoors and enjoy hunting, horseback riding, archery, fishing, and boating. I first learned about Enter His Gates when I met Doris Williams at a horsemanship clinic, and her enthusiasm for the camp was completely contagious. My involvement started as a horse donor, followed by being a grandfather of two campers, a volunteer, and eventually joining the board. When Doris stepped down, several of us stepped up with the goal of continuing EHG. Our hearts' desire remains to continue these irreplaceable experiences for both the campers and our volunteers.

I started with Enter His Gates as a camper when I was just nine years old. After a few years of summer camp, I started volunteering with our youth program, returning summer after summer to learn as much as I could each season. I recently graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with my Bachelors in Business Administration, but camp remains a massive part of my life. Each summer, I am blessed with the opportunity to watch children have the exact same life-changing experiences I had as a camper. Speaking with current campers, parents, and our teen volunteers constantly reminds me of why I return to camp each season. The ways God used EHG in my youth shaped the trajectory of the rest of my life, and I continue to serve here because I want every single camper to have those same experiences.

Hi! I'm Andrea Curry. I grew up in Enid and got my degree in Music Education and Science from the University of Tulsa. I taught in Tulsa and California before returning home to Enid, where I have been teaching 8th-grade Science at Emerson Middle School for the past 16 years. In 2008, Doris Williams recruited me to volunteer at a new camp she was starting to share her love for God and horses with children. I was hooked instantly. Over the 14 years I've been involved, I have watched EHG grow from hosting 15 campers a week for a few hours a day to a full-day camp with 27 campers per week, featuring trail rotations, Bible study, and swimming. Every year, I look forward to summer, seeing returning faces, and watching previous campers become volunteers. God, Kids, Horses, and the great outdoors—you can't get any better than that!

I am a stay-at-home mom of four teenagers and young adults, and I love spending my time reading, walking our dog, and hanging out with family and friends. Enter His Gates is such a great opportunity for local youth to learn how to fish, canoe, and ride a horse—experiences that most kids simply do not have access to learn and enjoy today. I love being a part of making those outdoor experiences possible.

I am the Associate Pastor of Oakwood Christian Church here in Enid, where I have served since 2012, following 18 years of ministry at Davis Park Christian Church. I grew up in Missouri, graduated from Midwest Christian College, and am married to my wife, Leah (we have two grown daughters, Lindsey and Ali). Deeply invested in our community, I've also served on the Enid Public School Board, the youth sports league board, and the Enid Ministerial Alliance. In my free time, I referee college basketball and love hunting and fishing. I have a deep passion for God, helping people, and the mission of Enter His Gates. I began volunteering here several years ago, helping the kids with fishing and driving the camp bus back and forth. It is a joy to love and serve this camp family.

I first became involved with Enter His Gates as a camper at seven years old, and I’ve returned every single summer since. I began volunteering in the horse rotation at thirteen, and throughout my years at camp, I have grown my equine knowledge as well as my confidence and leadership skills.
I recently graduated from Oklahoma State University with my Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science, and I am moving on to the OSU College of Veterinary Medicine to pursue my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Enter His Gates has been one of the most influential and rewarding parts of my life. Each summer I look forward to teaching and encouraging our campers, mentoring our junior volunteers, and spending time with our sweet horses.

Our Founder - Doris Williams

Doris’ heart’s desire is to influence children, to prepare them to approach life with Christian values, to understand responsibility and to make good memories in the process. Doris began riding horses at age 7 with English style and later would learn Western.  She was a Girl Scout and began leading camping trips along the Appalachian Trail & canoe trips on the Tennessee River by age 18.  Doris taught Junior High Math and Science and obtained her Masters in Education.  She and her husband, Lyman raised two boys, Doug and Rusty.  After raising her boys, she joined Operation Mobilization in Eastern Europe for 8 years where she worked in finance as well as counseling and Christian Education.  While in missions she traveled extensively in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, China and India. After the mission field, Doris returned home and attended Parelli Natural Leadership training for horses, Equest Therapeutic Horsemanship Administration Workshop and Crystal Peak Youth Ranch for abused kids and horses. In 2008, Doris’s dream to help children find meaning in life became a reality as she opened Enter His Gates Summer Day Camp. Doris used the great outdoors and the unconditional love of horses to help  teach children the unconditional love of Christ and choose Him to be his/her Savior and Lord through  Enter His Gates.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
